Use an Agent or Book Direct?

The question that has always been on the consumers mind is "Should I use an agent or is booking direct with a cruise line better?" Because of the greater use of technology and the cruise lines themselves directing more people to do things "online", this question becomes even more important to the consumer.

Let's do a comparison. When you call the cruise line direct, they will give you their best pricing based on any eligible criteria you might have (resident, Sr., past passenger, etc.). When you call and work with an agent, they get the same rates from the cruise line that you are eligible for. So far, no difference.

But, the cruise lines do not have "group space" held and only book individual reservations (even if there are two or three cabins involved). An agent on the other hand may have "group space" or contracted pricing that is lower. Advantage agent.

If you call cruise line A who also owns cruise line B, they will still only tell you about cruise line A (the one they work for.) The res agents do not even have access to the other brand. An agent on the other hand, will take the time to look at multiple possibilities accross different cruise lines to find the best fit for that customer. Advantage agent.

The res agent of a cruise line has one focus and one focus only - secure the reservation with a deposit NOW. That is their job! They will not necessarily do any research to compate dates to see if an alternate date has a better offer. Instead, you tell them what you want, and they "take an order." An agent on the other hand can do the research and will help you find the best value or "deal" that works for the customer. Advantage agent.

The cruise line res agents in most cases have been on very few cruises personally if any at all. To them, taking an order and meeting their "quota" of new bookings is all they care about. That is their job! Maybe they toured some of their ships, but they know practically nothing about the "competition" out there much less their own ships. An agent on the other hand probably has sailed on and toured many ships, has spent time learning about the various products out there, and can honestly help you figure out what is going to be best for you the consumer. Advantage agent!

Lastly, the res agent at the cruise line is interested in your booking reservation today; again, that is their job. Discussing excursion options, talking about the ship itself, or even building a long term relationship with a client is not in their job description and will simply direct you to the cruise line website for any other information. Even if they knew the answer that is NOT their job to tell you and they are instructed to send you to the website. In fact, if you call back it is almost impossible to talk to the same person.

An agent on the other hand is interested in that long term client relationship (or should be.) If not, find another agent who is. We do more work AFTER one of our clients makes their reservation usually because they can ask us questions about virtually anything prior to sailing and we will take the time to answer and help the client. Advantage agent.

I could put a lot of other comparisons but I think you get the idea. The agent is YOUR advocate and friend, the cruise line merely wants to take your reservation. You decide who is best and most advantageous for you.

And one last thought. As the cruise lines require the customer do more and more "online" for themselves, it would not surprise me one day when speaking to a cruise line res agent will have an extra fee. Don't think so? It happens with most businesses today - stores, hotels, and of course, the airlines who are the most creative in finding ways to add "fees." Yes, there are agents and agencies that offer discounts for booking online on their site and already charge extra to talk to an agent.

We don't and we never plan to! I guess I'm still old-fashion". We still think it is about providing service, advice, and building that long term relationship that is the right way to run a business.

Our visit To Beaches Resort Turks & Caicos

Jackie and I had the opportunity to visit the Beaches property in Providenciales, Turks & Caicos last week. We were so excited to visit a location that we had not visited before but we were wary of visiting a "family" focus resort. Since we don't have children, this would be something different.I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised. Okay, maybe blown away. The property was absolutely beautiful! There are three (3) separate villages at this resort: Caribbean, French and Italian. The accommodations in all 3 were beautiful.

The service was outstanding, the food was excellent and the facilities were state of the art. Beaches are an all inclusive property so there is no tipping and all meals, snacks, alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages. Non motorized water sports are included. If you are a certified diver, and present your diver certification card, up to 2 dives per day are included! If you are not a certified diver, Resort Certification is available for a fee. The only other services not included are spa services, character breakfasts, laundry and dry cleaning, after hours babysitting, internet access and shopping.

There are age appropriate, supervised activities for infants through teens. The resort employs Certified Nannies. The little ones will enjoy Camp Sesame and visits by the characters from Sesame Street. Even I enjoyed the Sesame Street Parade! You could feel the excitement of the children in the air as they waited for the character parade. The looks on their little faces as the parade approached was priceless. The parade ends with a show on the open air stage. There is Pirate Island with a water park and ice cream shop and a kid sized swim up bar. For the older kids there is an XBox 360 Game Garage, Crayola Art Camp, Scratch DJ Academy, Beach Olympics, Karaoke, and more.

There are 8 pools,-5 with swim up bars, a water park with 2 waterslides and a surfrider, a lazy river, outdoor movies, snorkeling, windsurfing, hobie cats, kayaks and sea trykes. There is a 7,000 square foot Shopping Village in just the Italian Village! There are 16 separate dining options! Did I mention the resort sits on a 12 mile stretch of powder white sand beach?

I thoroughly enjoyed the water slides and lazy river. The swim up bars was great and it was a hoot to watch the kids order the "virgin" pina coladas and other frozen drinks. They all thought that they were extremely cool. A few of the parents were envisioning blenders of frozen banana and strawberry drinks in their futures.

There are also special programs available for groups. Packages include Family Reunions; Group, Weddings by Martha Stewart and Best Friends for Ever. The programs offer special rates and exclusive benefits.

We had a great time at this resort and would highly recommend this for a great girlfriend getaway, a family reunion, a family destination wedding or a great beach vacation. If you are looking for a perfect family beach getaway you can't go wrong with Beaches, Turks & Caicos.

The difference between Cruise Lines

Which fleet is the best? What is the best ship? These are questions that cruisers ask, and they are almost impossible to answer since everyone’s tastes and priorities are so different. With that said, we can help you pick your ideal cruise vacation by explaining some of the main features of the major cruise lines. Here are nine of the top 20 fleets, alphabetically listed. Please keep in mind … cruise lines attempt to please a wide range of people and all provide some common amenities. However, with a little research, you should be able to narrow down your choices to a couple of cruise lines depending on your lifestyle, interests and budget.

Azamara Club Cruises

While they may only enlist two ships, their itineraries reach far across Europe, Asia and South America. You will find a country club atmosphere on these medium sized, ultra premium ships, in part due to the more casual dress policy and wood paneled lounges. You can expect exceptional cuisine and service, outstanding itineraries that include an overnight stay in a port on every cruise and upscale accommodations.

Carnival Cruise Lines

Not only are they the world’s largest cruise line, but they are also the most popular. Hallmarks of this fleet include the cruise industry’s most vibrant nightlife, above average food and large staterooms. If you love Las Vegas, these ships will certainly fit the bill. The entertainment is dazzling and the casino is lively throughout the day and night. Families also flock to the “Fun Ships” because of Camp Carnival’s supervised activities, the spiral waterslides and the other kids’ facilities. Best of all, the super low prices on Carnival make the fleet a big hit with families, singles, couples, groups … just about everyone!Celebrity CruisesCelebrity offers an upscale cruise experience with a focus on food and service. These award winning ships have a casual European atmosphere, with a great selection of modern art and contemporary design. You will find more newlyweds, couples celebrating anniversaries and families with older children on board. The fleet’s newest vessels offer plenty of balcony staterooms, gourmet restaurants, posh spas, glass blowing demonstrations and a real lawn for picnics, putting, croquet or bocce ball.

Disney

Discover the most magical family vacation every to sail the seas, on an enchanted 3-night getaway to the Bahamas, or a 7-night voyage to exotic Caribbean islands or the Mexican Riviera. On board, you’ll enjoy uniquely separate areas and activities for everyone. So kids, teens, and adults all feel like a Disney cruise is just for them! After all, it’s always a great time to take in the tropical wonders of a Disney cruise, including Disney’s own private island adventure, Castaway Cay.

Holland America Line

Here you will find a sophisticated style of cruising aboard medium sized ships with larger than average staterooms and a rich history of premium service. These classically designed ships cater to cruisers who like a more tranquil cruise experience with refined entertainment, fine art auctions and immersive enrichment classes. Holland America is a natural choice for many multi-generational families, travelers over the age of 55 and couples marking special occasions.

Norwegian Cruise Line

NCL is best known for “Freestyle Cruising,” which is a big hit for those seeking an unstructured seagoing vacation. You can eat whenever you want, with whomever you want. No dress code to follow in the main dining rooms. Small surcharges expand your options to seemingly countless specialty restaurants. Highlights on the newest ships include an ultra chic lounge with plush beds and bowling lanes, a lounge made of ice, Blue Man Group performances, Second City comedy shows and a Cirque du Soleil dinner theater. With all of this for some of the most affordable fares at sea, the industry’s youngest fleet is popular with families, singles and couples.

Oceania Cruises

While they say they are not a luxury cruise line, the experience certainly is close to it. The food is overseen by Jacques Pepin, and it is among the best in the cruise industry. The 640 passenger ships fill up quickly with loyal guests (many of them retired) and who enjoy single seating dining in four restaurants, very polished service and staterooms boasting down comforters, high thread European sheets and, if you are in a suite, personal butlers.

Princess Cruises

Princess has a loyal following of travelers who love the ships; dining program where you may choose assigned seating or dining whenever and with whomever you please. The fleet has come a very long way since earning fame on the 1970’s “Love Boat” TV show. Today, Princess’ ships feature contemporary design and stylish amenities alongside very good food, nice staterooms, friendly service and superior shore excursions. While there are families aboard every cruise, these floating resorts primarily attract couples of all ages.

Regent Seven Seas Cruises

Regent provides a true luxury cruise experience with large staterooms, superb dining, exceptional service, onboard experts and worldwide itineraries. Both ships host less than 700 guests, showcase Scandinavian décor, and offer extraordinary spas operated by Carita of Paris. Fares include opulent accommodations, roundtrip airfare, gratuities, all beverages and unforgettable shore excursions.

Royal Caribbean International

They are among the most innovative fleets in the industry, boasting the world’s largest cruise ships and arguably the most with a real “wow” factor. Oasis of the Seas and Allure of the Seas each offer an unprecedented set of onboard experiences: 2 surfing wave pools, high diving shows at an outdoor amphitheater, scuba lessons in a pool, zip line rides, a boardwalk carousel, street performers, loft suites, and outdoor grass park with sidewalk cafes and much more. Previous ships in the fleet introduced the first rock climbing walls, ice skating rinks, mall sized promenades and other onboard thrills. Endless options for dining, accommodations and activities, plus amazing values make Royal Caribbean a favorite for families with kids, couples, singes, groups and cruisers of every kind.

Setting your sites on South America

Often described as exotic, mysterious and magical, South America is a place of extremes.Where else can you discover the world's highest waterfall, longest mountain range, driest desert and largest rainforest?

Onboard a South American cruise you’ll explore some of the world's most exotic and exciting ports. By night the ship will sail the open seas and by day you’ll experience dazzling cities, ancient ruins, lush jungles and more.

Stroll the cobbled streets of Buenos Aires and take in the cities European flair. You’ll find first rate opera houses, museums and cathedrals on par with any in Europe. Yet this city has one thing Europe does not; the tango. There is no better place in the world to experience this sensuous dance.

Another exciting port of call is Callao/Lima, Peru. Discover the mysterious lost city of Machu Picchu, perched high above the Urubamba River and surrounded by lush vegetation and concealed by awe inspiring mountain peaks. The “Lost City” is more impressive than words and truly a once in a lifetime experience.

As your ship sails to the deep south, several mighty glaciers will start to come into view. You’ve arrived in Punta Arenas, Chile, home to beautiful landscapes including sparkling glaciers, majestic fjords and towering waterfalls. This mystical place is filled with colonies of sea lions and Magellanic penguins, and offers breathtaking views of the Straits of Magellan and Tierra del Fuego.

From here you will continue south to Cape Horn, the southernmost tip of South America. This beautiful, untamed Antarctic strait connects the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. As you pass from one ocean to the next keep your eyes open as it is common to see giant blocks of ice break off and crash in a dramatic manner. You'll also find a large number of sea birds, penguins and seals playfully meandering about.

Heading north you’ll find beautiful beaches set against a mountainous backdrop offering an ideal place for rest and relaxation. Rio de Janerio is known for her famous beaches, Ipanema and Copacabana, as well as Carnaval, the famous five-day celebration. But there is more to see and do in Rio. By day you can take the cable car up to the top of Sugarloaf Mountain for the view of a lifetime, head to the Amazon rainforest for a wild adventure or witness the famous art-deco statue of Christ the Redeemer. Then, when the sun sets the streets begin to pulsate with the sounds of samba and things really begin to heat up.

If you are looking for a vacation like no other and an opportunity to see more than your hotel room and its surroundings, then hop on board a South American cruise. The best way to see it all is on a cruise.

Our Stay at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa

The "Grand Floridian" met & exceeded all our expectations. Upon arrival we were greeted by Laura of Concierge services, who graciously escorted us up to the Royal Palm Club to relax and get our itinerary that we had planned before arriving. We had planned to be staying in the Sugarloaf building only to be told by Laura that we had been upgrade to a Castle view that had a view of the lake/river and a beautiful view of the castle... Laura not only greeted us, but escorted us to our room to make sure our expectations were met.

When we open the door to our room it was total amazement. The view that we had was amazing, not to mention the smile on my wife’s face when she saw the castle through our patio door.

We stayed here to celebrate my wife’s birthday and our anniversary and were given a "Happy Birthday" button and a "Happy Anniversary button” to wear, which I do suggest wearing for every character & Disney employee would wish her a "Happy Birthday" and us “Happy Anniversary. It actually was fun for the first day or two, for I would also get free birthday desserts when I went out to eat on some Disney properties. The room was spacious, and nicely decorated with hidden characters everywhere, even on the wallpaper. It had a couch, flat-screen TV, full-size balcony with (2) wrought-iron chairs...which were comfy to sit on for watching the fireworks every night form our balcony. Every room at this hotel has a balcony....but the views vary with each room.

The monorail (located on the 2nd floor of the main bldg) was convenient, not waiting anymore than 5-minutes for one. The monorail makes exactly (5) stops only: "Grand Floridian Hotel", "Magic Kingdom", "Contemporary" Hotel, (ticket & transportation center), & "Polynesian". It’s just loops all day to those (5) stops. if you want to go to "Epcot", you have to get off at the (tickets & transportation center) and change to another monorail there to the "Epcot" monorail. If you want to go to "Hollywood Studios (formally MGM studios), "Downtown Disney", "Typhoon Lagoon", or "Animal Kingdom", you can only take the Disney Bus, for the monorail is not connected to those parks. The bus picks you up in the front of the "Grand Floridian" and runs every 15-20 minutes continuously through-out the day/night. All free, of course!

Getting back to the hotel itself....it is beautiful!! The pictures do not do it justice. As the saying goes you get what you pay for, and the "Grand Floridian" is the best Disney Property if you want the convenience of being on Disney grounds...which was perfect for us...for when it got too hot or if it rained, we were able to hop on the monorail or bus back to the hotel in a jiffy, and then back to the parks later in the evening, with little or no effort. So, if you want the convenience, then stay here. If that does not matter, and you want more bang for your buck, & don’t mind driving your car & sitting in traffic to get to the parks, then stay off grounds.

The room was quiet, clean, and very big! We never heard our neighbors on the other side. Around 9am, "mouse-keeping" would start cleaning the rooms but you never heard them. Every cast member was very nice/friendly, and wonderful, not to mention having the Royal Palm Club down the hall where you could start your day with Grand Beginnings at 6:30am, Mid Day delights at 11:30, Afternoon Tea at 2:30, twilight refreshers at 5:00 to ending your day with Grand Indulgence at 8:00 with cordials and desserts along with coffee, sodas, wine, beer, wonderful music playing all evening long and the friendly conversations we had with other guest.

We also had the chance to visit the Wedding Chapel while we were there, and I must say it is every girl’s fantasy dream wedding location. From the moment we walked in the main chapel area and seeing the “Castle” through the oval shaped window at the altar to the wonderful bride and groom areas that is set up it was an amazing site. There is also a wedding coordinator on site at Franck’s just outside of the wedding chapel.

I would not stay anywhere else when traveling to Disney World Resorts. In my opinion the Grand Floridian is “TOPS” and not only should be put on your vacation bucket list, but every bride should think of having their wedding there.

Wedding Destinations! Caribbean Style

While many couples dream of a Caribbean wedding or honeymoon, they want to pick that perfect island that is right for them. Each island has its unique culture and attractions and, perhaps most importantly for couples looking to tie the knot, it’s set of regulations for getting married.
The following is a rundown of some of the Caribbean islands unique destinations and what you need to know to get married there. (** Please check with your travel agent as requirements and regulations can change without notice).

ARUBA
Whether you choose to tie the knot on the beach, with a private sunset cruise, or at a lush tropical garden, getting married in Aruba is a wonderful tranquil way to add tropical romance to your wedding day. With all the many properties on the island that have complete banquet facilities for your reception, there are also fine restaurants that offer elegant private rooms for your special occasion. After your I Do’s you can enjoy your honeymoon here, taking in the islands breath-taking vistas and secluded hideaways to celebrate your special day. Many of Aruba’s best resorts and hotels offer all-inclusive honeymoon packages, and the island is perfect for newlyweds.

Requirements for weddings:
For a civil service, the couple must provide from their country of citizenship an “apostille” report proof that they are both single and eligible to marry. Each person must submit their birth certificate with a raised seal. In addition, couples must hold valid passports and submit with their application, copies of the pages showing all relevant details. Copies of the passport pages of their witnesses must also be submitted (if a couple does not have a witness, the resort will provide them at an additional fee). All documents are to be faxed for review to the office of Civil Registry and then submitted by courier (i.e., FedEx) at least a month prior to the wedding date.
All civil ceremonies must take place before the church wedding, either in the U.S. or in Aruba. Civil ceremonies are conducted inside the City Hall (Bureau Burgerlijke Stand) in Oranjestad and are performed Wednesdays through Fridays from 9:30a.m. to noon

BAHAMAS
The powdery white sand and crystal blue water makes this the ideal setting for your “big day”. It’s the reason A-list celebrity’s chose to the Bahamas to start their new lives. The island is perfect for your last hurrah with the guys or girls, the wedding itself and honeymoon, and it’s just a short plane flight from Florida!
With the 700 islands, newlywed couples can island hop and experience all that the Bahamas have to offer. They can relax on secluded beaches; explore underwater caves, shop for handmade crafts or swim with the dolphins.

Wedding requirements:
The couple must be in the Bahamas while applying for their marriage license. Couples may apply a day after their arrival and can e married once their license is approved- it usually takes one day. The Bahamas Immigration Card or entry stamp in your passport will suffice. No blood test is necessary. The fee for the license is $100 certified copies of a marriage certificate are $20.
Marriage licenses are issued at the office of the Registrar General in Nassau. This office is open to the public Mondays through Fridays between 9:30 am and 4 pm

Barbados
Barbados has a wide range of accommodations; from elegant resorts to intimate guesthouses. Dining in the country is a feast for all senses, from folk recipes for fish like the flying fish (a culinary “national treasure), to gastronomic experiences that rival the world’s finest. Sightseeing options include an array of natural attractions, abundant choices of sports, world-class shopping fun filled night life. As the natives are fond of saying “Life didn’t begin in Barbados, it was perfected here.”

The application for a marriage license must be made by both parties, in person, at the office of the Ministry of Home Affairs. Valid passports or original, copies of birth certificates are required. Where necessary, all documents not in English must be accompanied by a certified translation. If neither party is a citizen or resident of Barbados, there is a fee of $74 cash and a $12 stamp.

Bermuda
A secluded and utterly unique island, yet just a short flight from the U.S, Bermuda offers a great depth of experiences for honeymooners. With no big neon signs, limited cars, and strict environmental laws, its ambiance has a purity rarely found anywhere in the world. With beautiful locations and few legal formalities, it’s no wonder that bridal magazines rate it as one of the top 10 wedding destinations in the world.

Wedding requirements:
Couples must fill out and file with the Bermuda Government’s Registrar General a notice of indented Marriage form. It is wise to do this at least four weeks prior to the wedding. The form must be accompanied with a fee of $210, plus $21 for the marriage certificate. What make s Cayman Islands wedding so unique isn’t just the poetic and perfect experience it afford the bride and groom- but the memories their guest share with them. And how about a deep-sea fishing expedition or golf outing for the groom and his guys, or a rehearsal “dinner at sea” with their nearest and dearest friends and family? You will find an impressive array of luxury resorts, cozy beach bungalows and private villas, condos to choose from. Did we mention the pampering spas you will find on each one of these islands, and the world-class dining options, and a safe family-friendly environment? You will also have a chance to partake in some of the Caribbean’s best activities and attractions and have the ingredients of a once in-a-lifetime experience you and your guest won’t forget.

Then they need to request a marriage certificate-valid all over the world-from the local justice of the Peace.

Jamaica
The island of Jamaica’s beautiful beaches, lush tropical foliage, warm weather and a wide range of accommodations make it the perfect setting for both your weddings and honeymoon. In fact Jamaica –based Sandals Resorts has trademarked the word “Weddingmoons” for that reason. Puerto Rico
Honeymooners and wedding couples can explore opulent hotels delightful restaurants and sizzling clubs in Puerto Rico’s Condado and San Juan metro areas. You can visit the old city in the morning and visit the cosmopolitan part of San Juan at night.
Luxury resorts and small Caribbean boutiques east of Puerto Rico are unique in the way they bring comfort to body and soul. The small islands of the east coast that run parallel – Culebra and Vieques let you experience the simplicity and casual, subtle privacy of the Caribbean surroundings.

Adventurous couples will fall for Porta del Sol with its natural beaches, biking, deep-sea fishing, horseback riding, golf, kayaking, scuba and windsurfing. And for the more “cultural” couples, the “Magical Charm of Porta del Caribe,” the coffee haciendas and Don Q rum distillery are attractions that reflect Puerto Rican soul.

Wedding requirements:
Marriage license papers must be requested in writing via the registrar’s office in Puerto Rico. Both the bride and groom must appear in person at the time of applying for the papers. Prepare in advance as the time needed to complete the license requirements is around two months. Blood tests are required, although a test conducted on the U.S. mainland within 10days of the ceremony will suffice. A doctor in Puerto Rico must sign the license after conducting an examination of the bride and groom. There are no fees for the license and private ceremony, but hotel fees average from $150-$350.

Family Cruising

Getting familiar with what cruise lines have to offer for kids

We as parents love to cruise with our kids, and for good reason. We can spend as much time together as we want. While we as parents take the opportunity to relax we can let our children loose in chaperoned programs that most cruise lines have to offer for kids of all ages.

The kids of all ages are no doubt enchanted by the elaborate programs offered onboard ship nowadays, from the children’s programs to the teens. It’s important that you know what ship has the right program to meets your family’s needs, as some programs are more comprehensive than others.

Some cruise lines particularly luxury or upper-premium companies don’t encourage children but will bring on counselors during summer, holidays and peak family times.

One rule of thumb is to find out how much time your family members want to spend together, “All families approach cruising in different ways,” some families members want to spend quality time together, while others want to spend time on their own meeting new friends.

It is very important that you book a ship that offers a wide range of activities that appeal to all age groups in your family.

Some families like to book suites or adjoining cabins, that’s why we suggest booking your cruise ahead of time to ensure you get the best possible cabin, especially during high peak seasons such as summer, spring break and around the holidays. The cruise may be available, but cabins with quads, adjacent cabins and suites may not be.

Over the next several weeks we will be spotlighting different cruise lines and their children’s programs and facilities offered.

This week’s spotlight:

Carnival Cruise Lines
With its fun twisting water slides and water parks on most of its ships, as well as facilities and programs for kids based on age.

Camp Carnival
It's all in fun...Camp Carnival includes a wide range of activities designed for children in three different age groups - Toddlers, Juniors, and Intermediates. All children are supervised by staff who have experience and/or education in child-care. You'll see your child's excitement grow as soon as they meet their counselor and get assigned to their group. And when it's time to eat kids get their very own menus, featuring all their favorites like hot dogs, chicken nuggets, pizza, macaroni & cheese, hamburgers and more.

Toddlers
The age-appropriate activities at Camp Carnival are sure to delight your 2-5 year-olds. The smaller children enjoy many of their fun events in the Camp Carnival headquarters. From finger painting to cartoon time, arts and crafts to puppet shows, your little ones will have a blast!
They also provide babysitting services in the evenings. So plan a "date night" or "quiet time" just for two. Toddlers do not have to be potty-trained in order to be part of Camp Carnival; parents simply need to provide the youth staff with diapers and toiletries for their child.

Juniors
When our 6-8 year-old guests enter the bright and lively world of Camp Carnival they'll enjoy fun-filled and exciting activities like Spin Art, dodge ball, volcano making and more. Your pint-size cuties will also participate in a large variety of themed activities and games - including prize bingo, water colors, jewelry making, foosball, air hockey, and much more.
Your kids will have so much fun, they won't even noticed they're being supervised. They'll think of our counselors as just big kids.

Intermediates
Your 9-11 year-olds will feel a flurry of excitement every time they step into Camp Carnival. Our young cruisers will play all day long - from dodge ball and pool parties to video games and scavenger hunts. They'll also be excited about the new friends they've made.
Parents can take advantage of our evening "After Hours" services from 10 p.m. till 12 a.m. After 12 a.m., juniors and intermediate will join the younger cruisers for our Slumber Party service until 3 a.m.

Circle “C”
The ultimate spot where children ages 12-14 can cruise, chill, and connect to others. Cool activities, awesome facilities and lots of great new friends to add to their text-mail lists. The activities (think games, dance parties, outdoor movies and more) are supervised and created just for them. The friendly and experienced staff at Circle "C" wants to give your teens the best vacation experience possible. All activities are coordinated by a Circle "C" Director and dedicated to keeping the activities fun for our young guests.

Club O2
Club 02 for ages 15-17 activities are designed to be cool and a little more relaxed. Teens can hang out with their friends and watch a movie, listen to the latest music, play video games or join karaoke jam sessions. We've even set up teen-only shore excursions so your young adults can enjoy the sites and sounds of our beautiful ports with their peers.
The fleet wide club was developed by the Coca-Cola Company and includes teen directors a 1000 to 1800 square –foot teens club a dance floor, DJ, sound and lighting system, and a large screen plasma TV. There’s even a “Coke-tail” lounge that offers Coca-Cola products and non-alcoholic specialty drinks for your teens to enjoy while hanging out with the new friends they meet onboard.

Our Company would love to do a meeting at sea… is that possible?

Yes! Meeting and sea in the same sentence seems like an odd combination but it works…smoothly! Just about every cruise ship has great meeting spaces for groups of all sizes and even the audio and visual equipment and the internet connectivity (for a fee) is available.
Everything that a hotel is available at sea; the only difference is a ship offers more because it’s nearly all inclusive; your food, entertainment, accommodations and transportation to a new port of call each day all for the cost of a hotel room in major cities.

Some companies even charter an entire ship so they can play captain and create their own itinerary and onboard programming making for a real customized event. Several ships were recently chartered to host large corporate groups for the Super Bowl in Miami and several others were homes to companies attending the 2010 winter Olympics in Vancouver, Canada. Tell your boss you want to get out of town this year for you next meeting or event and start planning with the help of your Cruise specialist today.

Cruising 2010 And Beyond

Cruising 2010 And Beyond…
A boat load of new vessels have been delivered to the cruise industry in recent years and a total of eleven will launch in 2010. The cruise industry continues to expand and with all the new ships come new itineraries and departure ports.

This year alone, the new ships will range in size form American cruise Lines 110-passenger Independence to Royal Caribbean international’s second Oasis – class ship, 5,400 passenger Allure of the Seas.

“Many of the ships slated for this year are sister ships and almost identical to other recently launched ships”.

2010 Sister Ships
Costa Deliziosa – In February Costa Deliziosa will be the first cruise ship to be named in the United Arab Emirates, in Dubai. She is the sister ship to the Costa Luminosa.
MSC Magnifica – the 93,300 ton, 2550 passenger MSC Magnifica will be in the Mediterranean starting in March. She is the fourth in her class that includes MSC Orchestra, MSC Muscia and MSC Poesia.
Celebrity Eclipse – Sister ship to the highly acclaimed Celebrity Solstice and Celebrity Equinox, Eclipse will debut this April in Europe.
Seabourn Sojourn – Second Odyssey-Class ship will be christened in June in London, increasing The Yachts of Seabourn’s fleet to five.
ms Nieuw Amsterdam – Sister to ms Eurodam, ms Nieuw Amsterdam will sail the Eastern Mediterranean beginning in July.
Allure of the Seas – in November the Allure will join her sister, the Oasis of the Seas as the newest, largest ships in the world. With their open air neighborhoods and aqua Theatres, these ships have fundamentally changed the industry.

The Future of Cruising
The years ahead are sure to continue this exciting revolution as may familiar brands placed orders for new ships. Disney Cruise Line will debut two new ships in 2011 and 2012 and upper premium brands Oceania will launch their first ship since the company began. Marina will carry 1,258 guests and offer 10 dining venues. Celebrity is scheduled to launch their fourth (yet to be named) Solstice-class ship in 2011. Industry leader Carnival Cruise Lines will launch the Carnival Magic in October 2011 and they announced she will be sailing the Mediterranean roundtrip from Barcelona. Carnival also has a third Dream-class ship to be delivered in spring of 2012.

The cruise industry is like a fine wine and continues to mature and get better with age. Traditional cruisers are very intrigued by the cruise ship classes of 2009 and 2010. And even non-cruisers are jumping into the world of cruise vacations as a cruise really does offer more something for just about everyone and provides cruise travelers with more amenities than a world-class resort all at a great value.

“Does your health insurance cover you when you are traveling?”

Like most Americans they don’t realize that their regular health insurance may not cover them outside of the United States.

When you set your site on an exciting vacation filled with sun- splashed beaches, it’s not much fun to stop and consider the options that protect you against unforeseen events that may ruin your expensive getaway (not to mention the additional cost). But it’s time for a reality check. Whenever a problem occurs during a trip, it’s almost always you the traveler loses out. You lose either time or money, but most often you lose both.

When we the traveler book our travel plans we are just so excited to get away that we never think of the possibilities that may occur, like illness or accidents. Here are a few of some unforeseen encounters. You paid for your vacation 9 months out and a crisis hits: You’re down-sized out of a job, there’s a death in the family, or some other catastrophe strikes and you’re unable to travel.

Because travelers are always urged to get travelers insurance, they shut down when they hear the word “insurance; but you may get ripped off if you don’t get it. It is an extra cost, but it’s invaluable if you have a problem. When you don’t have it? That’s when it really can get expensive.”

Buying insurance doesn’t guarantee that your trip will be worry free, but it does help alleviate the enormous concerns that can arise when trouble before or during your vacation. For many it’s a small price to pay for Peace of Mind.

First Time Cruisers

Have you ever dreamt of castles on hilltops, open air cafe cobbled stone streets, colorful fishing boats, mystic Cliffside villages, ancient ruins of Mexico, or a steaming volcano in Hawaii, these are but a sample of the possible sites you can see on a cruise.

A cruise is a great way to cover a lot of ground with little wear and tear. Waking up in a new port each day without packing and unpacking, going through airport security, or lugging suitcases can be very appealing. Some added benefit these days is an inclusive cost without worrying about a cruise that covers a broad area will allow you to get a little taste of each city or country so you can see which ones you want to return to on your next trip.

If you have never taken a cruise before, a cruise is a good one to start with. Sailing into different ports and countries serves up a wealth of cultural experiences. Musical languages, historic architectures, a variety of terrains and things to do, make each day an adventure in discovery. And if you need a day of pure relaxation, you can do so on the deck of your ship, being waited on all day with a picturesque view in sight.

Even though ships can vary in size they can be super sophisticated or casually inviting. The larger ships give the sense of a floating hotel; the small ships feel more like cruising on your private yacht. The sense of formality is not necessarily tied to the size of the ship; you have to check into each ship's personality. Some cruises still have several formal nights, which require extra packing, and some cruises are all business casual. If you are thinking of the larger ships it's good to determine how many ports dock, and how many tender. If you have to tender a large number of people, you can end up spending a good deal of time waiting in line to get on and off the ship. Embarking from a docked ship is usually pretty efficient with most ships.

The next thing to consider is the cliental that is attracted to the ship. You might find it most interesting to be on a ship with varying age groups or with a group whose age is closer to yours.
It is also important to know what is included with the cruise. For example, some cruises include meals in the main dining room but charge a surcharge for the specialty restaurants; some cruises include tips and excursions, while others don't. Other considerations should be the level of activities, entertainment variety and quality, the types of excursions offered and most important - the ports of call.

And finally, what are your expectations regarding your cabin? Is it important to have a veranda, or is a porthole sufficient? Do you prefer one bed or two and is there an option? How much time will you spend in your cabin? Giving consideration to all of these issues and finding out the answers before you cruise will ensure that your expectations are set properly and that you have the best cruise experience you can have.
